Flower color modification through co-overexpression of the VtF3′5′H and RhNHX genes in Rosa hybrida

Abstract Roses ( Rosa hybrida ) are a highly merchandised flower but lack blue varieties. Overexpression of the flavonoid 3′,5′-hydroxylase F3′5′H gene can increase accumulation pigment (delphinidin anthocyanin). However, sometimes effect alone is inadequate for producing flowers. Furthermore, internal environment cell, such as an in pH, also help conversion anthocyanins to pigments. Nonetheless, genetic engineering methods simultaneously introduce multiple genes at same time regulate development pigments achieve ultimate breeding goal color roses. In present study, adjust delphinidin and vacuolar we introduced Viola tricolor VtF3′5′H Na+/H+ exchanger RhNHX into white rose line “KR056002” using Agrobacterium -mediated transformation. The quantitative real polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) results showed that heterologous transgenic lines were expressed petals leaves, promoted expression related anthocyanin synthesis structural genes.
